Restless
04:22
|

I’m willing to be wrong
Fact that could be my theme song
If that means I should be gone
I guess I’m gone
I realize after these twenty five that
Certainty certainly
Felt intense when
I was fenced in
I’ve been pushing against ever since then
I’m restless
So restless
I might regret this
But I’m restless
I waited long enough
Til I was strong enough
Now that I’ve been gone enough
Just keep my stuff
I realize it could be my demise but
There’s no pill
To keep me still
Sucks to be shunned
Had to be done
It’s too late, got the taste on my tongue
I’m restless
So restless
I might regret this
But I’m restless
It’s endless
At times senseless
I might regret this
But I’m restless

Wrecks

Had a cent to live
But you took a dime
Had a heart to give
You took my mind
On one hand you’d beg
With the other steal
And no one around
To take the wheel
When it all came down to you
Is when it all came crashing through
Just like everybody knew
Everybody knew
With one eye ahead
The other eye on top
You couldn’t have known
Where you should stop

Feel This

You could say “wrong place, wrong time”
And so accused
Wrong color of skin more like
And so abused
Days later his body pulled
From the river bed
But his coffin wasn’t closed
Cuz his mama said
Don’t look away
You need to see this
Don’t turn away
You need to feel this
Half a century of time
And fifteen to spare
Vivid imagery of a life
Struggling for air

MD2020

Out from beneath an ever growing
Pile of written policies
The ugly man will bare his ignorance
And threaten peace
We did not end division
We only moved the line
It’s still a dream to live in
A place for every kind
The members change and so we moved
The game piece right back to the start
Because the rules came from top down
But didn’t reach the heart

Each day
Wake to find
The inmates in control again
Replay
And rewind
So I don’t want to sleep again
Give me something
Something I can use
To stay awake
Give me something
I don’t want to lose
My bangupstate
My state
Present tense
Is disconnected self-defense
I say
Ignorance of ignorance is also bliss
Hey
Fix my mind
A straightener would be just fine
